Class of 2021 Highlight: Alan Faneca

Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets offensive lineman Alan Faneca has been named as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021.
Faneca has been elected after his sixth year of eligibility.
Alan Faneca Career Bio
Following a successful collegiate career at LSU, Faneca was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 26th overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft.
Faneca’s career didn’t get off to a rousing start in Pittsburgh, but he used his first two seasons to gain the snaps and momentum that would propel him to a Hall of Fame career.
In 2000, Faneca was a solidified starter and helped the Steelers rank fourth in the league in rushing. In 2001, he earned his first Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro selections, cementing himself as one of the most valuable offensive guards in the league.
His versatility showed in 2003, where he had to shift to left tackle for most of the season due to an injury need, where he also flourished.
Faneca’s ultimate prize came in 2006 when he helped lead the Steelers to a 21-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks in the 2006 Super Bowl. Faneca helped make a key block during Willie Parker’s 75-yard touchdown run during that game, currently the longest run in Super Bowl history.
In the 2008 offseason, Faneca signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the New York Jets. The deal was the largest ever for an offensive lineman, a record that was soon usurped by rookie and No.1 draft pick Jake Long.
Faneca spent two seasons with the Jets, leading the way for 2,756 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns in 2009 and helping the Jets reach the 2010 AFC Championship Game.
The offensive stalwart played one final season with the Arizona Cardinals before calling it a career on May 10, 2011.
