Class of 2022 Highlight: Dick Vermeil

Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs head coach, Dick Vermeil, has been named as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
Vermeil has been named a finalist in the Hall of Fame twice and will be enshrined after twelve years of eligibility.
Dick Vermeil Career Bio
Known for his unique football mindset, his compassion for the players, and his overall passion for the game, Dick Vermeil was able to recover all three teams from losing records and take each to the playoffs by his third season as a head coach.
Starting as the Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach in 1976, he was able to lead the franchise to the first round of the playoffs in 1978, the NFC Divisional round in 1979, and to their first Super Bowl appearance in 1980 after defeating the Cowboys in the NFC Championship.
In 1982, he retired from the NFL and spent the next 15 years at CBS and ABC as one of the most acclaimed broadcasters in NFL history.
The Philadelphia Eagles inducted Dick Vermeil into the Eagles’ Hall of Fame with a 57-51 record in seven seasons in 1994.
He returned to the NFL as head coach of the St. Louis Rams, becoming the architect of the “Greatest Show on Turf” and leading the Rams to victory in the 2000 Super Bowl. Vermeil was also awarded NFL Coach of the Year for his accomplishments during the 1999 season.
For his final stint in the NFL, Vermeil served as Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2001 and stayed for the next five seasons. Here he guided the Chiefs to their first AFC West title since 1997.
In 2008, the St. Louis Rams organization honored Vermeil by placing him in their Ring of Honor.
Throughout his career he coached 229 games, with a 126-114 record (including postseason). Vermeil coached 11 playoff games and won six.
He is one of only six head coaches to lead two different teams to the Super Bowl, with the appearances taking place 19 years apart.
